Tagged by Nicole to write 5 random facts about myself. Normally, I'd ignore the request, but Nicole is nice enough to be one of the few regulars to this blog. Therefore:
Fact #1: I did a comic strip my freshman year at Ohio State. Another student, Jeff Smith, also did a strip at the same time. His was called Thorn. It eventually became a comic book named "Bone". Bone was an amazing success. There is a collection of his strips from Ohio State called "Thorn: tales from the Lantern" (The Lantern is the school paper). I have a copy and recently found and sold another copy (I didn't want to part with my original one). I purchased it at a used book store for $200 plus tax and sold it for $735 plus shipping etc. I figure (after fees) that I made $500 in about 2 weeks. Not bad. Oh, my strip was just a silly one that never amounted to much, though I enjoyed doing it...I guess this one is a few facts, but I'll still count it as one.
Fact #2: I have run the Columbus Marathon 3 times. The first time, I didn't have a ride home to my OSU apartment, so after 23 miles, I stopped near my place. I guess that was dumb. People thought I couldn't finish it, so I ran it the next year and finished in under 4 hours. Of course, I wasn't an amazing runner, I was just intent on finishing. The third and final time was in 1989. I was at Kent State for my MBA and decided to run the race a month before since people kept telling me I couldn't do it (I was a bit out of shape - yet still 25 lbs lighter than I am now). I finished in around 4 1/2 hours and then drove back to Kent to take a midterm the next morning (got a 98!). Now, my knees are so bad, I doubt I'll do it again, though I'd love to try a 10K.
Fact #3: I used to have hair way past my shoulders. Since it's very curly, it would be even longer when wet. I think I went 8 months once without a hair cut. I just liked it that way. Now, I have it clipped every month or so. I like it short since I don't have to do anything about it (not that I did when it was long)...
Fact #4: I met my wife outside a doctor's office in Michigan when we were reps for different companies (pharmaceutical). A mutual friend had been trying to set us up and we both ignored that. We started hanging out and eventually started dating.
Fact #5: One of my favorite Disney cartoons is Treasure Planet. Most critics hated it and it did poorly at the box office, but my daughter liked it and I think we've watched it together about 30+ times. I've always liked Disney movies (before becoming a parent), but now I have an easy excuse to watch the movies, Disney Channel, etc. I'm somewhat sick of some of the princess things, but it's easy to buy her gifts...and she's due some more since she's almost 4.
How's that Nicole? Revealing enough? OK, I don't think there are enough people to tag that read this, but on the offchance that they do: tag to Sippy (can't put the link, per her instructions), Tara (of course - along with Nicole, my two best supporters), K_sra. I think that'll have to do...If they choose to ignore this tag, so be it!
Up since 5:15am, all day meeting, have to be up early for the drive to Y-town. Goodnight!

Great job, NJ!!!
I'm sorry to saddle you with a tag so early in the year. I know, it sucks of me. But we learned so much about you that we probably didn't already know. And whoah on running that marathon 3 times. I aspire to such levels of physical fitness!
Thanks! Remember - the last time I did a marathon was in 1989. I really am not in that kind of shape anymore...but at one time, I was! Maybe, this year, I'll get back to decent shape...lol...
