Shuttle launch

Shuttle launch, originally uploaded by nickjones65.

Just after 5pm today. This is the view from our backyard. Pretty cool. The photo didn't really pick up how bright the fuel burns from the shuttle. And the whole visible launch lasts less than a minute, maybe even 30 seconds. Still one of my favorite things about living in Florida.

That's so cool that you can see that from your yard. All I ever get is a bunch of stunt flyers diving at my house all weekend. Oh for a bazooka..... ;-)

Thanks Stinkypaw and ananke! We actually drove over to Titusville a few times to see the launch from closer (by about 20 miles). It doesn't look much different and you get caught in traffic. I'm hoping to use some connections to get to Kennedy Space Center so we can see it up close. But it is nice to look outside and see the launch. When they land in Florida, we get a double sonic boom that makes you jump if you're not expecting it.
