It is my wife's birthday tomorrow (33) and we did a date night. Went out to dinner (sans child) and a movie. She surprised me by picking this movie. We enjoyed it and you didn't need to read the comics to like the movie. It was light fluff, which is good sometimes, as opposed to Batman Begins (a far superior, though different, movie). The wife noticed that Jessica Alba's main job was to have cleavage, but I'm OK with that, and since SHE chose the movie...well, we all won...

Home sick...

Home sick with the child today. Both she and I are under the weather. Probably still recovering from Geauga Lake! Luckily, children's Advil and Tylenol work soooo well. Since I've been up since 5am due to little cowgirl being up with a fever, I'm beat. Oh well...hopefully she'll be back to daycare tomorrow. She seems to be doing better (kid won't stop talking or moving around!)

Finally broke down and spent the $$$

I just spent a bunch of savings to order my new Apple Powerbook. I've been putting it off as long as possible and got a call from Apple tonight. They gave me an educator's discount because I do a lot of work with the residency programs at the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital. Also, I think they knew I'd break down and purchase if they did...I also bought an Airport Express, a new iPod (I guess I need to sell mine now), and some software. I haven't spent this much money on myself in a long time..Should be fun!

Geauga Lake today

Since I have some extra vacation days And since I had promised the child a visit to a waterpark, today we went to Geauga Lake. We spent the entire time at the waterpark, after winning a stuffed dog (total cost=$1). She had a great time and is sleeping well tonight. And I realized that though many others are in better shape than me, there are far more who are not. Still, I probably should make more of an effort...

Invention

Here is my invention. For all of $2.99 (+tax), I was able to add an extension to the bathroom faucet so my daughter could reach it to wash up. Even with a stool, she is too small to reach the faucet without help. Duct tape and some PVC piping. What do you think?

War of the Worlds

This was a pretty good movie. I actually thought it was a good scare. At first, I didn't want to see it since (due to my job) I think Tom Cruise is full of crap when it comes to his views on psychiatry and medicine. But, then again, I like Speilberg and I almost always like Cruise's movies, so I gave in and went. Not as good as Batman Begins, but a scary good movie.
